Barrio Grand Rapids

This place was suggested as the BEST place to get tacos by the folks at the Drury inn. They weren't wrong! Besides the great tacos, the staff was awesome. The host guy let me know there is actually a Barrio right by my hometown, so even though I brought my husband a day old taco and it was still yummy, he got to try one freshly made 2 days later at the one where we live. So glad to find out Barrio is in some of our favorite locations. This location may be my favorite, though.

I ordered Barrio catering for a company-wide lunch that I hosted, and I was so impressed! Communication was always quick and thorough, the staff were super friendly, and the food was amazing. I had so many employees come up to me after the event to compliment the food and variety! Barrio has 3 tier options for catering, and Option #3 was perfect for us (we have about 55 employees). There is also a wide selection of Gluten Free, Vegetarian and Vegan items so that was greatly appreciated. I highly recommend Barrio and we'll definitely be ordering from them again in the future!

All of the food we ate wasn’t good. The house salsa was terrible (it tasted like they mixed bbq sauce in it) and the corn salsa was the saltiest thing I’ve had since I last visited the ocean. Our food wasn’t good at all, got 3 tacos and only one tasted good, and a taco bowl which was pretty much a pile of mush. We ended up going to a different restaurant afterwords to cleanse our taste buds. The inside is kinda cool and aesthetic but the food was definitely not worth it

This place is off the chain! The people and vibe is great! TJ ans Sam were so amazing! Thanks loves we appreciate you guys..you made our experience great! We tried almost every Margarita during Happy hour and we were happy. Ordered the bowl and a Sulky Taco as well as Guacamole and Salsa. Delicious. Or server TJ and bartender Sam were the best! Gave us incredible recommendations and the drinks were delicious. Happy hour ends at 6 and they have Margaritas, Tequila and Whiskey flights and drinks are 4$ until 6pm. I Recommend everything especially TJ our server TJ and bartender Sam. The decor is amazing and beautiful..day of the dead theme..beautiful! We loved the vibe and the also have a rewards system and app. It's set in down town GR next to the Bob and Live. This is definitely a regular spot for us. THIS IS DEFINITELY THE SPOT TO GO when your in GR! Love you guys

Unfortunately, the service was wonderful but the food was not good. The steak is way too thick cut and much well over cooked. It’s unfortunate that this had happened to my husband and I because we really do love Mexican food. They are not in authentic Mexican food, but merely a chain. The most upsetting part, to be more specific, is that there is just not enough meat inside of the taco. ANY of the tacos. Very distant impressed, and would like a refund, but know that it is more than impossible to receive one.

Every time I’ve gone to this Barrio location it’s a been incredibly disappointing and a down right bad experience from getting the order wrong every time I’ve eaten there to absolutely horrible customer service and professionalism. I’ve never left a review or made a complaint about any place before based off of one bad visit but I’ve been here several times and their lack of professionalism and competency is consistent. First time I went with a friend our server (a young guy) never looked at us, walked away several times in the middle of trying to order, and was so rude and obviously checked out. I’ve never not tipped before. I always assume the person is having a bad day but it was clear this kid just had a rotten attitude. They got my order wrong by leaving off more than half of my order of tacos. Thankfully another server came to offer to remake it which they did and that was greatly appreciated. This past time I made a to go order, when I arrived to pick it up it was nearly empty inside all the employees chatting it up sitting down at a table. I waited just a couple minutes for someone to come over to the front desk, said I was there to pick up an order and the employee said she’d check in it for me, went to the kitchen and came back out and sat right back down at the table chilling out. She never came over to update me on the order. I stood there for probably about 10 min and within those 10 min she looked back at the front desk many times and made eye contact with me. Still she didn’t come over to update me. Another customer walked in and at this point someone from the bar came to attend the desk because clearly no one else had an concern for doing their job. All the other employees sitting down still, another young lady handed my order to me and i when I got home half the toppings were not on the tacos I’d ordered and it was just… bad. Like half of these are air. Every time I’ve gone there they leave toppings off. $4.50 for each of these is so laughable. So sad because I love barrio and Thai is the first one I’ve consistently had a bad experience at. Not all but many of their employees to me as a customer seem lazy and disinterested in doing what they are there to get paid for.

Poor service okay food. Placed a pickup order and arrived 20m after placing as I was told. When I arrived the dining room only had 1 table occupied. I was told my order was almost ready in just 2 minutes more. Then the staff member ignored me and focused on that 1 table and I ended up waiting almost 15 minutes. I definitely won't eat here anymore. The food isn't good enough to be treated like I matter less for a carry out order than a dine in.
